North Wharf just got an extra burst of flavour with the opening of The Good Luck Coconut (39 Jellicoe Street, next door to Jack Tar).
Part of the stable of brands by the owner of One Tree Grill and Little Jimmy, The Good Luck Coconut is a different proposition to the rest of its family. Being a tiki bar and restaurant, it brings you some of the best cocktails this side of the Blue Lagoon. And if our drinks aren’t enough to get you back on island time, then we’ve got a damn tasty sharing menu packed full of dishes influenced by the Pacific and Asian ingredients we use. We’re not trying to be Asian fusion, but rather a cocktail focussed bar serving creative casual food influenced by Pacific and Northern Asian ingredients.
Whether it’s something from our fire pit, a sharing dish or something to keep all to yourself, we have menu to choose from. Some of the food that is on offer includes:
- Huli huli chicken thigh Yakitori – green onions, purple kumara crisp
- Pacific pickles – daikon, coconut, green papaya, carrot, cabbage
- Pot Sticker dumplings – shiitake, chive, fermented shiitake crisps, black vinegar
- Wild caught Tiger Prawns – mango, tarragon, black garlic mayo
The inspiration behind opening this space was that we wanted The Good Luck Coconut to be a place that reminds you of summer days, cool breezes and relaxed evenings – giving you that little window back to the last time you were relaxing on holiday. To achieve this, the interior provides a relaxed Pacific vibe with soft bamboo, ocean and earth colourings and a huge tiki head fireplace.
While we have only just opened and are super fresh out the box, we’ve got some great things planned to bring a little extra flavour to the North Wharf area such as DJ Murray Sweetpants each Friday evening.
So if you would like to learn a little bit more about The Good Luck Coconut, then contact us to organise some time to come down and escape to our own little slice of paradise here at The Good Luck Coconut.
