Brave Hearts - The New Zealand Cardiac Story

Brave Hearts, the new exhibition by the Auckland Medical Museum Trust, brings the pioneering work of New Zealand’s heart clinicians and the bravery of their patients to life.

Through interactive displays the exhibition explains how the heart works, how we investigate heart disease and the largely untold story of New Zealand’s leading role in the evolution of heart surgery.

Historical objects and the remarkable stories associated with them (e.g. the first heart-lung bypass machine at Greenlane Hospital, various pacemakers), will be accessible, many for the first time. Novel comparative objects include the hearts of reptiles, birds and animals including the heart of an elephant.

A must-do experience for the whole family and the best part is it's FREE.

Eastern edge of Halsey Wharf (next to the ANZ Viaduct Events Centre)

Opening hours:

Monday to Friday: 10am - 4pm
