The design team for the project consists of collaboration of local architecture firm, Bossley Architects, Singapore based AR+D, and interior design by world renowned Conran + Partners.
“Ar+d is about honest and simple architecture. What makes us unique is the fact that we always create projects that are in respect of the culture and heritage of the region we are in. Success to me would be to know that I have given inhabitant of any space I created a sense of joy.”
Ali Reda from ar+d workshop, lead designer on Park Hyatt Auckland.
With a focus of design that is appropriate to both the building’s location and culture, Ali Reda has extensive experience in designing world class hotels, previously working on Hyatt brand hotels in Kilimanjaro and Koh Samui.
The design of the new Park Hyatt centers on the notion of a Maori cloak around the building, a double skin offering warmth, privacy and beauty
As much a premium hospitality destination for the public as a private hotel for its guests, the hotel development will also include the creation of new public spaces along the Viaduct Harbour edge
With plans to open in 2018, Park Hyatt Auckland will be the first Park Hyatt hotel in New Zealand.
This exciting project is an exemplar of what the Wynyard Quarter revitalisation is all about: quality design and build at the highest sustainability standards and a site use that contributes to economic activity on the waterfront and the Auckland region as a whole.
