On Saturday 4 August, the Wynyard Quarter’s seventh birthday was celebrated down at the Waterfront from Eastern Viaduct to Silo Park, and all down Daldy Street.

The weather presented the wonderful gift of being bright and sunny, very much setting the mood for the day.

3 Ring Riot entertained many with their Cirque Du Silo down at Silo Park with lots of games for all to play, while gardening workshops were held at the Daldy street community garden to provide budding gardeners with tips on caring for bees and the secret to growing some delicious kumara.

Maori and Pacific culture were spectacularly showcased with kapa haka and and interactive dance and music performances in Karanga Plaza, plenty of people participated in Crossfit on the wharf, as well as in gutterboat racing. Kids learned to fish and bike with help from Blue Light and Auckland Transport.

Wynyard Quarter had their beloved tram making its rounds throughout the day thanks to Auckland Dockline Tram, with many people seizing the chance to travel around on the historic carriages. Patrons of all ages gathered to celebrate the beauty, heritage and old-time charm that the tram offered as it made its way through the streets, with many nabbing a daffodil from the bucket on-board as a keepsake of their travels.

A fantastic day was brought to a close with a family classic in Silo Cinema, Beauty and the Beast. Thank you to everyone who headed down to the Quarter to join the celebrations! A wonderful time was had by all.
