Wynyard Quarter buildings snag four wins at Property Council Awards
The newly opened Mason Bros building and ASB Waterfront Theatre in Wynyard Quarter were named winners at the Property Council New Zealand Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards 2017 that were announced last Friday (16 June).
ASB Waterfront Theatre on Halsey Street took out the top prize (Best in Category) in the Resene Green Building Property category and won excellence in the Warren and Mahoney Civic and Arts Property category.
The Mason Bros building on Pakenham Street West received a merit in the RCP Commercial Office Property award. The building was also awarded excellence in the Hawkins Heritage and Adaptive Reuses Property category, in which the top award went to the heritage Australis Nathan Buildings in Britomart – a property that Panuku helped guide the restoration of.
The annual awards look to celebrate excellence in property development. David Rankin, Chief Operating Officer at Panuku, was among the 1,500 people who attended a prize giving ceremony held at the Spark Arena in central Auckland.
“It’s fantastic to see two of the newest buildings in Wynyard Quarter recognised for development excellence at such prestigious awards,” says David.
“Once again, the Mason Bros redevelopment has been recognised for maintaining the heritage aspects of the building at its heart.
“Given that a key aim for Panuku is to encourage a sustainable community in Wynyard Quarter, it’s pleasing to see ASB Waterfront Theatre win Best in Category in the Resene Green Building Property award, which recognises when green building principals are applied that aim to reduce a project’s eco footprint.” Read and see more photos of the night here.
