Sustainable Coastlines snags top environmental award

Sustainable Coastlines’ The Flagship Education Centre in Wynyard Quarter has clinched a top environmental award.

The recently completed centre was awarded the World Award in the Youth category at the 18th Energy Globe Awards for the work it does in showcasing the good, the bad and the ugly about New Zealand’s coastlines and waterways to the public.

Chief executive and co-founder of the charity Sam Judd who accepted the accolade at a ceremony in Iran says he and the team were absolutely humbled to receive a major international award.

“On behalf of more than 2,000 people and partners that contributed to building the Flagship Education Centre - we cannot thank them enough," says Sam.

"In particular, we would like to acknowledge our partners at Panuku Development Auckland," he adds, "in providing one of the best sites in town, they have enabled us to educate thousands of people and generate international recognition for innovation and sustainability in the Wynyard Quarter."

Open to all from 10am - 5pm every day, the Flagship Education Centre is located on the corner of Beaumont and Madden Streets.
